About Paint India Pink

Paint India Pink is an initiative of Sashakt Nari Parishad (SNP) that is a full spectrum grass-root NGO established in the year 2011.

SNP is a registered NGO, working towards Empowerment and welfare of women across India and has more than 900,000 women as members under the banner of 15 state Chapters of SNP.

It works in the area of human rights and social-upliftment issues across India by focusing on the three legged development criteria of education, health and community-development such as child education, anti-discrimination, save girl child mission, women health centric issues.

Breast Cancer is the most common cancer in women in India

One woman is diagnosed with breast cancer in India, every 4 minutes

70,218 Deaths

An estimated 70,218 women died of breast cancer in India for the year 2012, the highest in the world for that year

Age Group 30-50

India is seeing a spurt in the cases of breast cancer in the age group of 30 to 50 and the same is likely to increase

What is Breast Cancer?

Majority of women throughout India are not aware of what Breast Cancer is and even if they do, they happen to know only a fragment of the basic knowledge.

With the increase in mobile phone and data usage, Paint India Pink has decided to spread awareness through social media platforms, videos, and infographics to reach masses effectively.

DETECT
Screening Methods

Self Breast Exam: Every month after age 20, preferably between 5th to 7th day of menses

Clinical Exam: Visit a breast surgeon or gynaecologist once a year after age 30

Mammography: Once in two years between age 40-50 yrs, and once every year over 50 yrs

Signs and Symptoms:
  • Persistent lump or thickening in breast/armpit
  • Changes in color or skin of breast, areola, or nipple
  • Newly retracted/inverted nipple
  • Blood or discharge from nipple
  • Change in size or shape of breast
CARE
Breast Cancer Treatment

Your breast cancer's stage, how far it has invaded, and tumor size all play a large part in determining treatment.

Your doctor will determine cancer's size, stage, and grade (likelihood to grow and spread). Treatment options include:

  • Surgery (most common)
  • Chemotherapy
  • Targeted therapy
  • Radiation
  • Hormone therapy

Social Media Promotions to reach masses for diagnosis and support.

Early Diagnosis

Awareness & Screening Campaigns in community, education institutes, hospitals, and clinics.

Mobile Screening Van going from place to place to help diagnose problems in masses.

Timely Intervention

Partnership with treating healthcare institutions - At least 2-3 Cancer institutes per state for support to establish Breast Care Centres.
